President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of chairpersons for the boards of 42 federal agencies, alongside the selection of a secretary for the board of the Civil Defence, Immigration, and Prisons Services.
Notably, former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been appointed as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN. Additionally, a new Director-General has been appointed for the National Board for Technology Incubation, NBTI.
These appointments, announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
Among the prominent appointees, Hon. Hillard Eta from Cross River has been named Chairman of the National Youth Service Corps, while Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi from Lagos will lead the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.
Other significant appointments include Sen. Magnus Abe from Rivers as Chairman of the National Agency for Great Green Wall, Sen. Surajudeen Bashiru Ajibola from Osun for the National Sugar Development Council, and Raji Kazeem Kolawole from Oyo as the new Director-General of the National Board for Technology Incubation.
In his directive to the appointees, President Tinubu stressed the non-executive nature of their positions, urging them to avoid interference in the day-to-day operations of their respective agencies. He emphasized that their primary role is to offer strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the organizations.
The appointments, according to the Presidency, reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to reinforcing governance structures and promoting national development through capable leadership.
