Hakeem Effects is the makeup artist behind the viral video of conjoined twins.

A recent video circulating online has captured the attention of many, featuring conjoined twins. However, the video is not what it appears to be. While the special effects are convincing, Fintech Telex understands that the video is actually a work of fiction created for a Nollywood film.

The video has gone viral, sparking discussions and garnering mixed reactions from viewers. Some viewers expressed genuine concern for the well-being of the individuals in the video, believing them to be real conjoined twins. Others have questioned the video’s authenticity, with some even attempting to identify the individuals depicted.

Hakeem Onilogbo, otherwise known as Hakeem Effects is the creator of the work of art.

In a post sighted on his Instagram page, Hakeem Effects expressed gratitude to Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan.

The renowned makeup artist indicated that it was Afolayan who thought outside the box, which ultimately inspired him to create the conjoined art for the newly-released Netflix series.

Who’s Hakeem Effects?

Born on March 5, 1978, Hakeem Onilogbo, widely known as Hakeem Effect, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tricks International Limited, a leading special effects company catering to numerous Nollywood productions in Nigeria.

Under Tricks International Limited, HFX Studio is revolutionizing the West African film industry through innovative special effects makeup and pyrotechnics, aiming to bridge the gap between the Western world and West Africa in the entertainment sector.

Hakeem Effect’s profound impact on the Nollywood industry has earned him numerous accolades, both domestically and internationally. Notable awards include the African Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Make-Up, Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), Nollywood and African Critis Award USA (NAFCA), as well as the Golden Movie Award Ghana and Falcon Award Ghana.

His portfolio boasts an impressive array of films, including “King of Boys,” “Omo Ghetto THE SAGA,” “Soldiers Story,” “Sugar Rush,” and “Lugard,” among others, where his expertise in special effects and pyrotechnics has left an indelible mark. Hakeem Effect’s contributions extend beyond the silver screen, with notable works on TV series such as Ebony TV’s “Blood Sisters” and “Death and King’s Horsemen,” showcasing his unparalleled talent and commitment to elevating African cinema to new heights.

Meanwhile, the conjoined twins’ art video’s existence highlights the growing sophistication of special effects in filmmaking, particularly within the Nollywood industry.

The use of special effects to create realistic portrayals of conjoined twins in film is not new. However, the widespread virality of this particular video underscores the potential for such content to blur the lines between fiction and reality, particularly for viewers unfamiliar with the nuances of filmmaking or special effects.

It’s, however, important to approach online content with a critical eye, especially when encountering emotionally charged or visually striking videos. Verifying information through reputable sources and being mindful of the potential for misinformation are crucial steps in responsible online engagement.
