Binance has accused the Nigerian government of asking for a bribe to make its problems in the country go away.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Binance, Richard Teng, made this disclosure, as he described the detention of its employee, Tigran Gambaryan, by the Nigerian government as ‘unjust’.
“To invite a company’s mid-level employees for collaborative policy meetings, only to detain them, has set a dangerous new precedent for all companies worldwide.”
“The message from the Nigerian government is clear: we must detain an innocent, mid-level employee, a former U.S. federal agent, and place him in a dangerous prison to control Binance.
“This regrettable turn of events contradicts the spirit of cooperation and transparency that Binance has consistently demonstrated in its interactions with the regulatory authorities,” Teng stated, as he criticized the detainment of Binance officials in the country.

Fintech Telex recalls that on February 26, Gambaryan and his colleague Nadeem Anjarwalla were arrested in connection with a criminal investigation into Binance’s activities in Nigeria when they arrived in the country.
