Donald Trump, the former US president, has made history by being the first to be convicted of a crime. A New York jury has unanimously found him guilty on all charges in his hush-money case.

This significant development comes just months before an upcoming election, where he may return to the White House.

The jury has reached a verdict of guilt on all 34 charges of falsifying business records to conceal a payment intended to silence adult film actress Stormy Daniels. While he could potentially face a maximum of four years in prison for each count, it is more probable that he will be granted probation.

The 77-year-old Republican, who was freed without bail, is now a convicted felon – a groundbreaking and surprising occurrence in a nation where presidents are often referred to as the most influential individual in the world.

Below are the details of those 34 felony counts against Trump

Trump’s Reaction To His Charges

The former president pleaded not guilty and denied all wrongdoing. After the verdict was read, Trump railed against the judge, and called the trial “rigged [and] disgraceful.”

“The real verdict is going to be November 5, by the people, and they know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here”. Trump said to hallway cameras after angrily exiting the courtroom following his conviction.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 11, four days before the Republican National Convention.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg commended Thursday’s jury for their work in the historic case.

“While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately today at this verdict in the same manner as every other case that comes to the courtroom doors by following the facts and the law, and doing so without fear or favor,” he said at a news conference later in the evening.

The verdict caps a years-long legal saga that began shortly after Trump declared presidential run in 2015.
