A recent extensive study carried out by researchers in the Netherlands has revealed that most gender-confused children eventually outgrow those feelings by the time they reach adulthood.

A team of Dutch researchers carried out a study that monitored 2,700 individuals from 11 until their mid-twenties. The study’s primary objective was to inquire about their perspectives on gender periodically.

The findings indicated that at the beginning of the study, 10% of children exhibited varying levels of “gender non-contentedness.” Nevertheless, by the age of 25, only 4% reported feeling “often” or “sometimes” discontent with their gender.

According to a report published in the Daily Mail, the researchers have concluded that adolescents may find solace in understanding that it is typical to experience uncertainties regarding their identity and gender identity during this stage of life, and that this is a fairly widespread occurrence.

Reacting to the research, Elon Musk who is known to never shy away from weighing in wrote on X: “I’m cool with adults doing whatever they want, so long as it doesn’t harm others, but kids need to be protected at all costs.”

A fellow at the conservative Ethics and Public Policy Center (who was not involved in the research) told the Mail: “This study provides even more reason to be skeptical towards aggressive steps to facilitate gender transition in childhood and adolescence. The fact that rates of satisfaction are lower even just a few years later suggests that for the vast majority of people, prudence and caution, rather than a rush towards permanent surgeries or hormone therapies, will be the best approach for teenagers struggling to make sense of the world and their place in it. As such, policies that prohibit gender transition for minors make a great deal of sense.”

The study, which is among the most extensive research conducted on gender in children, emphasized the importance of caution and highlighted the study’s constraints. Initially, the study examined a diverse group of children from both the general population and those who sought mental health treatment (unrelated to gender specifically). As a result, the study’s main focus is not solely on children diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

The methodology to unveil the latter reality of gender-confused children

A study conducted by the University of Groningen involved the analysis of data from 2,770 individuals who participated in the Tracking Adolescents Individual Lives Survey. Over 15 years, participants were asked to express their desire to be of the opposite sex at six different intervals, with various response options provided.

0 – Not True

1 – Somewhat or Sometimes True

2 – Very True or Often True

Researchers recorded individuals who reported feeling “gender non-conforming” despite identifying with their biological sex. According to a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, 78% of participants maintained consistent feelings about their gender over fifteen years. Approximately 19% of individuals grew more content with their gender identity, while 2% became less comfortable with it.

The research findings also indicated that women were prone to expressing dissatisfaction with their gender. Moreover, it was observed that experiencing either an increase or decrease in “non-contentedness” was linked to reduced self-perceived value, heightened behavioral problems, and increased emotional challenges.

The authors added: ‘Gender non-contentedness, while being relatively common during early adolescence, in general, decreases with age and appears to be associated with a poorer self-concept and mental health throughout development.’

The discussion on gender has been notably heated in the WENA regions (Western Europe and Northern America) recently. JK Rowling has recently questioned Scotland’s new hate laws regarding “misgendering” by identifying several transwomen as men. Elon Musk is directly involved in the debate and has a personal interest as one of his children, Xavier Alexander Musk, has expressed a wish to change their name to align with their gender identity. They requested their aunt not to inform Elon Musk.

She texted her aunt: “Hey, I’m transgender, and my name is Jenna. Don’t tell my dad.”

Musk had claimed that his daughter embraced Communism and severed ties with him due to the influence of her California school, accusing the institution of indoctrinating her with the belief that wealth is undesirable.
