LAGOS — Eshanekpe Israel has received the Niger Delta Community Advocacy & Peacebuilding Award in recognition of his public engagement on community issues and his advocacy for dialogue and civic participation in the Niger Delta.
The award, presented by a civil society platform, cited Israel’s role in amplifying grassroots perspectives and encouraging non-violent dialogue around social and development challenges affecting Urhobo communities and the wider region.
Organizers said the recognition focuses on sustained public engagement rather than formal political or traditional authority. “This award acknowledges individuals whose work contributes to community dialogue, inclusion, and peaceful engagement,” the organizers said in a statement.
Israel has been a visible commentator on regional issues, using public forums and community outreach to draw attention to local concerns and encourage constructive engagement among stakeholders.
In brief remarks, Israel dedicated the recognition to community members and emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing long-standing challenges in the Niger Delta.
The Niger Delta Community Advocacy & Peacebuilding Award is conferred on individuals whose public engagement supports civic participation and peaceful coexistence. The organizers said the award aims to highlight community-based voices that contribute to stability and dialogue in the region.
